This thread was made when i started working on the game. The game release->forward can be found on page 21. I will try and keep this OP updated with links to music/etc. If you have questions/want to tell me about your experience this is the place. Enjoy the rage-through boys!

ORIGINAL POST

Hey everyone. The last couple of weeks I've gotten myself into a hobby of game-designing. I have been working on this project for a bit now and I think I'm ready to hear what the fellowship has to say. 

So with no further ado, I present to you:

I uploaded a 1minute short video to show of the engine/first screen of the game on youtube. For those of you wanting to see it without having to download something, due to my inexperience in video stuff the video just shortly shows of the engine. Concider downloading the real deal and try it out, it got lots of more features that are not shown in the video! Enjoy!

For those of you that havent figured it out already, its aiming to be a IWBTG like game with references to LAGtv and Jeff.
Its far from done and I im not expecting to be done with it for many months, but I also thought it would be kinda cool if I took some help from the growing community? 

What I'm looking for:
-MUSIC, If anyone have some good music/want to make some music Its a high chance i will use it.
-Textures/sprites, mosty bigger things like bosses/backgrounds and such, but also small stuff throughout the worlds. 
-Playtesters, (If youre interested, please play the intro and give me feedback on that. Then in the feedback post/message mention that you would like to be a play-tester for the future worlds as well and if the feedback was helpfull and there is room left you will get a spot).

Everyone helping out will obviously get a spot in the credits.

Since i personally do not have the time to check out that .exe i will just give a premature warning to the people that might want to do use that .exe.
It might contain a virus or something, ofcourse it could also be legit, like i said i don't have the time to check that.
And if it is legit i'll wish you guys good luck with trying to create this.

I just played the first screen and it's not easy, but easy for the "I wanna be the ....." - games. I took me 5minutes to do the first screen :(
The Pacman thing was pretty nice and the TnT thing at the beginning of the next screen is veeery annoying (= good :D)

1 Thing: If you want to change the controls you have to go to "File" and then "Players" is that a bug? :0

//EDIT: I just realized that the second screen changes when you die. I like it :)

Thank you for the feedback. I could add in somthing that make the player able to detonate the TnT at will, but im guessing you dont see that as a problem now that you learnt about the randomizing spikes!

The application comes with the ability to change controls under file-players, I have added in a shortcut to it in the games options menu. However, you cant reach the menu before playing throught this first couple of intro-screens. So its not a bug but something I will do something about if more people find it annoying.

I got an idea ... i don't know if you can still change it but yea:
Maybe you can make a savepoint before the pacman guy and delete the savepoint before the TnT. Then delete the wall and make it so, that you have to run away from Pacman. On the next screen Pacman could eat the Lamp while chasing you ... i hope you  understand what i mean :D

Just changing the savepoint and let the Pacman be Pacman, and not just a random thing that eats a wall and then nothing.

Oh and i found a bug: If you maximize the window and then minimize it again, you only see a little part of the game.

I just arrived the 3 screen and i have to say the difficulty at the 2 screen was decent. The third screen looks very nice and hard. Hopefully the difficulty will raise more and more :)

Ofcourse Im willing to change stuff! 

Hmm, I really like your idee. But i think i would have to make pacman go round a loop before getting to the lamp (to give the player some time to memorize. And if hes running around the screen maybe I could make it so he plants the spikes as he moves along? Im gonna play around abit with it atleast.

I will try to make the game get harder as it goes, Starting out ez and getting ap-shit near the end. But as i said, balancing your own game is pretty hard. I accually made some pretty serious nerfes to the first screen. before it was no save at all+faster spikes and bigger pacman. That was a bit to much for the first screen :)

Mhm, maybe just let the Pacman come in few seconds after the player ... additionally the Pacman needs some time to get to the lamp (while that the Player has to run + memorize = harder = more rage = more fun)

Nice LAGTV qoutes there at the end of screen 3, would be so awesome if you get Jeff / Adam talk these sentences ... but since this topic is very active at the moment, they'll atleast see it :)

So yeah, 3 screen looked hard, but not actually was that hard. Would be cool if you make the cursor of the "black person" move, after the plattform jump part, so the player has to dodge it. Because the last bit (where you jump up the little shaft) is too freaking easy, i did it at the first try :(

So about the 4 screen: Nice idea with the sun fire thing, but when you get to that little jump part on the right side it stops .. i personally think it would be better if it's activated all the time. Maybe a bit hard but you can do a savepoint somewhere at the beginning of the jump part. (If you think it would be too hard, i personally don't think that :p)

I could make pacman chase the player, lead the player through the spike maze and then have the lights go out and make the player memorize the path he just took to get back? 

Also, your pasted it when you read this, the end of screen 4 I feel is lacking. Its just.. nothing? it feels like. Any idees?
Cant really have the sun-attacks still on, to unfair to good players to have to relay on pure luck on the very last platform just next to the sun. 

EDIT:
end of 4screen, I could make the sun move abit to the left so that the player have atleast 1sec to react to fireballs, if they spawn right next to you its bassiclly just luck, and that i dont want.

EDIT2:
Just found a bug where you instant die when you return to the game after exiting to the menu while dead. Its fixed but if anyone is playing around with the TOGA-mode (yes, there is a toga-mode) just try to remember to restart before going to the menu.

I have actually 6 ideas for the last bit of screen 4 :D

1. You let it activated all the time (and maybe insert another savepoint)
2. The platforms fall down the moment you jump on them
3. You let the mouse cursor swing around (like the black guy rages that the player is so good)
4. Idea 1 + 2 combined
5. Idea 2 + 3 combined
6. Idea 1 + 3 combined

PS: The sun does not move! >:(

I have nothing to say about the 5 screen was fun & had a good difficulty :)

I did it with exactly 300 deaths :D
(And 397 restarts)

Nice ending scene. I liked it alot :)
And cool "TOGA" music option.

Screen 6:
Was pretty nice, good difficulty but the second part (where you jump over the spikes) was pretty lame.. again: maybe a little mouse cursor swing? But don't go crazy on the last bit, like a Pacman coming around or spikes flying all over the place, just a little (maybe predictable) cursor swing to break up the lameness at the last part right there.

Like 3. Do you mean like Sonic or in a predefined pattern? could have a pattern on the cursor on screen 3 and a littlebit like sonic on screen 4? Also, iknow the sun dosent move, I meant i could make it :P

I really like the TOGA-option myself. I got exams next week so wont happen much untill that, maybe thats just good, thatway i can get some more input from this thread. But after that I will work on doing something more creative for the end of screen 3,4 and 6. Also, have checked the hint towards the next world? I got this Idée where I could have one enemy (you know which if you know what world it will be) kill you if you look straight on him. Im thinking that could make for some interesting and original gameplay.

I know it took solgryn 1year to make boshy, I dont think i will add multiplayer and stuff like he did but I dont expect the game to be done this year. Also, something deep inside of me is hoping that there is a chance that Jeff will try it if we as a community get together and make the game worth it. In that case, I would not realase it to anyone but him untill he is done with it. Giving it some more excitement for the stream-viewers.

Also, thanks for the feedback. Its precisely what I was looking for, If I get an handfull of ppl like this as my playtesters would be great, could send out parts for testing as i make them!

I would do both of them predefined path's.
That way the player can try to remember when the cursor goes where.

Maybe let the cursor camp a bit on the platforms ( so that way the player can't jump on them ) and after a few seconds it fly's towards the player -> Camps on the next platform -> fly's towards the player etc.

I would appreciate it, Im guessing you have beaten boshy+guy? Would be nice to have something to compare to.

Btw, screew exams. I couldent hold it so I started working and I made a neat pattern for the end of screen 3 :D
